Yesterday, we reported that Major Lazer, the electronic dance music trio behind hits like "Particula" and "Lean On", had teased upcoming collaborations with Burna Boy, Mr Eazi, Kizz Daniel and more. Well, those new releases are finally here, but not in the way we expected.
In a completely surprising move, the group has dropped a 30-minute project, Afrobeats Mix, which not includes all these new songs, but features mixed versions of hit songs from all around the continent — from Davido's "If" to Niniola's "Sicker".

While their takes on already established hits certainly work, where the project really soars is when we hit the new tracks — particularly "Loyal" with Kizz Daniel and "Tied Up" with Mr Eazi. Which is why it stings that most of the songs are only a minute long.
Thankfully, the brief cuts on the project are all mixed, and Major Lazer have said that throughout the month they'll be dropping the full versions of each new song — along with videos that rank among the "best" they've ever shot.
